This project path is organized around the result first: pond volume, fish load, head height, plumbing run, service access, and realistic turnover before brand-name browsing. It is a starting point, not a substitute for manufacturer instructions or installer judgment.

1. Size the waterUse actual gallons, not guessed surface area. Larger fish or heavy feeding raises the filtration target.
2. Size the liftHead height and long pipe runs reduce delivered flow, especially on waterfalls and remote filter pads.
3. Size the serviceChoose equipment that can be cleaned and maintained where it will actually sit.
